Purpose

Reliable Community Alternatives, Inc.was established July 2004 for the purpose of "providing the most reliable alternatives in the communityfor elderly and individuals with disabilities. RCA, Inc. was founded on the principle that individuals with disabilities need and deserve the best and most reliable individualized personal care services. Owner/Executive Director Olantha L. Scott recognized this need after her daughter Precious Ce'ziah Fields was born with Down Syndrome and experienced directly the difficulties of choosing a provider agency and other needed supports for her daughter. In pursuit of providing the best services available, she brought together people with the same vision and dream. The program's overall objective is to prevent institutionalization of individuals with disabilities. We want our families to remain home with necessary supports.

Recently, as of March 2007 we expanded to Region 3 due to the growing number of evacuees relocating from New Orleans to St. Charles parish and surrounding parishes.

What sets RCA apart from other providers?

We hold truth to advocacy and promoting home and commnity based waiver services by supporting advocacy and local support groups for individuals with disabilties and their families.  What sets us apart from other Direct service providers is that we not ony promote advocacy for individuals with disabilties in the work place, we hired a self-advocate who has Cerebral Palsy as a Receptionist/Community Resource Coordinator of Reliable Community Alternatives, Inc. target population is individuals with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, functional/non-functional disabilities, and individuals with either a mild, moderate, are severe diagnosis.

It is a policy of RCA to prohibit staff from seeking to directly affect consumer behavior prior to program enrollment by means of solicitation.  All program referrals will be made based upon individual choices made by the consumer or their designated legal representative.
